Big Idea: America
Essential Question: Does equality really exist in America?
Challenge: Prove how equality doesn't exist between the citizens in America.
Guiding Questions: What defines equality? the state of being equal.
What groups in America are considered minority groups? Minority groups are any group that lacks power in our society. Race, class, gender, and sexuality.
How are minority groups treated differently? treated bad, not a lot of respect, discourse of cilvil rights poor education, no political power. no wealth, unemployed. As opposed to other people who have wealth, employment, political power, education and cilvil rights, and respect.
What can people can do to create more equality to make America more equal? Join an impact group, fight for the rights of others, start a group of your own to make America equal rights for everyone, and fight form more equality in America for others.
Guiding Activities: We can interview people from other races.
Look up what the government defines equality in a US document like the constitution.
Compare someone of a minority to an American classified as the average person.
